KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Dec. 14) - Western Michigan extended its modest win streak to three games with a 90-72 victory over Northwestern in non-conference action from University Arena. The Broncos have averaged 90.3 points over their last three games.
Carrie Moore scored 17 of her game-high 24 points in the first half as four Broncos reached double figures. Lindsey Brown recorded a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds; Casey Rost added 16 points and Amanda Parker 14 points.
Western Michigan (3-4) never trailed, using a 10-2 run in the first half to open a 12-point cushion (43-31) at halftime. WMU's biggest lead of the night occurred with 3:57 left in the second half when Shaylen Jackson converted on a pair of three throws to put the Broncos up by 26 points, 84-58.
“Overall, I feel proud of this group and how they have improved,” said coach Ron Stewart, who went six-deep into his bench. “Collectively we did a nice job inside. We got to the line and defended well.”
WMU's victory was the first in four meetings against NU. The Wildcats (3-5) brought in an all-time record of 32-9 against Mid-American Conference schools.
