Western Michigan Lands Arizona Transfer Ethan Guerra

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan baseball team and head coach Billy Gernon have announced the signing of transfer infielder Ethan Guerra. Guerra joins 16 student-athletes already signed to the program who are slated to arrive at WMU in the fall of 2026 and begin suiting up for the Broncos for the 2027 season.

Guerra is set to head to Kalamazoo after spending two seasons at Arizona, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. He made his debut for the Wildcats in an early-season victory over Pepperdine in 2025, going 1-for-1 with a walk and a run scored. That year, Arizona went 44-21, won the Big 12 Baseball Championship and reached the College World Series.

Prior to his time in Tucson, Guerra played his first two years of collegiate baseball for head coach Clay Cox at Paris Junior College in Texas, helping the Dragons to a 71-42 record in his two seasons with the program. As a freshman, he collected 68 hits on the way to a .343 batting average and .450 on-base percentage. Guerra also drove in 56 runs and earned First Team Region 14 North All-Conference honors as a second baseman. He followed that up with 61 hits and 34 RBIs as a sophomore, posting a .347 batting average and .464 OBP. He also earned a spot on the President's List during his time at PJC.

Guerra is a graduate of Olathe South High School in Olathe, Kan., where he was a three-year letterwinner for head coach Josh Perkins. He primarily played second base and shortstop, and was a member of the Principal's Honor Roll.

He comes from an athletic family, with both parents having competed in cross country and track & field at Park University, where his father, Lenin, was an NAIA All-American. He also has an uncle, Jose, who played tennis at Creighton. Guerra's younger brother, Colin, played baseball at Chipola College and is currently committed to continue his career at Pittsburgh.
