CLEVELAND – Western Michigan redshirt senior designated hitter
Lucas Rick has been named the MAC Player of the Week for the week ending on May 10, the league office announced on Monday. Rick joins
Avery Thielman as the two Broncos to have received a Player of the Week honor this season.
Rick had a huge week at the plate for the Brown and Gold, going 8-for-15 (.533) and slugging 1.267 with a pair of doubles, three home runs and nine RBIs.
The Rockford, Mich., native started the week by going 3-for-3 with a home run and reaching base in all four of his trips to the plate on Wednesday at Michigan State. He went deep again in Friday's series opener at Bowling Green, and then notched three hits, including two doubles, and drove in three in Saturday's victory over BGSU which clinched a MAC Tournament berth for WMU. He closed out the weekend with a three-run blast on Sunday afternoon.
Rick and the Broncos wrap up the regular season this week with a three-game series against Northern Illinois. First pitch for Thursday's series opener is set for 3:05 pm from Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field. For tickets to any WMU baseball home game, visit
