Tanner Mally Added to Bobby Bragan Award Watch List

FORT WORTH, Texas – Western Michigan junior center fielder Tanner Mally was among the eight players added to the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award (BBNCSA) Midseason Watch List on Monday.

Created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, the BBNCSA was open to nominations from all NCAA Division I baseball programs from across the country. The award is based on performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity.

WMU's center fielder and leadoff hitter, Mally has been atop NCAA Division I baseball in both batting average and on-base percentage for the last six weeks. Following Western Michigan's series win at Eastern Michigan over the weekend, the junior checks in with a .480 batting average and .593 on-base percentage, at least 30 points ahead of the next-highest mark in both categories. He has also been one of the toughest players in the nation to strike out, having fanned just five times in 127 at-bats.

A native of Lisle, Ill., Mally paces the Mid-American conference in total hits (61) and hit by pitches (19), while also ranking among the league leaders in OPS (1.168, 3rd), runs scored (43, T-3) and stolen bases (18, 6th). Earlier this month, he was named a Midseason All-American by both D1Baseball (Second Team) and Perfect Game (Third Team).

Mally and the Broncos hit the road on Tuesday to take on Valparaiso. First pitch is set for 4 pm on ESPN+.
