KALAMAZOO, Mich. – After securing a sweep at Minnesota Duluth, the Western Michigan hockey team maintained its positioning in the latest national polls.
The Broncos currently sit at No. 3 in both the USCHO/USA Hockey polls, earning one first-place vote in the USCHO rankings. Michigan, Michigan State, WMU, North Dakota and Penn State make up the top five in both sets of rankings this week.
NCHC wise, the Brown and Gold were joined in the polls by UND, Minnesota Duluth, Denver and St. Cloud State. Arizona State, Colorado College and Miami were all receiving votes this week. Omaha was the lone conference team not earning recognition in the polls.
Western Michigan will be back at Lawson Arena this weekend, playing at home for the first time since Jan. 3. WMU will entertain Omaha on Jan. 30-31, with the series opener set for 7 PM. The Broncos swept Omaha at Baxter Arena earlier this season. The Broncos enter the series on a nine-game winning streak.
