KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Though Western Michigan had an off week in the schedule, the Broncos were able to maintain their place in the national rankings.
The Brown and Gold remained at No. 3 in the nation, earning one first-place vote in the USCHO poll. In the USA Hockey ranking, WMU elevated to No. 3, leaping over Wisconsin. Michigan, Michigan State, WMU, North Dakota and Wisconsin were the top five in both sets of rankings.
NCHC wise, the Broncos were joined by UND, Minnesota Duluth and Denver. St. Cloud State, Arizona State, Miami and Colorado College were all receiving votes. Omaha was the lone conference team not earning recognition in the polls this week.
Western Michigan will be back in action this weekend at Minnesota Duluth. The series opener is set for 8 PM ET at AMSOIL Arena on Jan. 23. The Broncos enter the series on a seven-game winning streak.
