KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Owen Michaels,
Grant Slukynsky and
Hampton Slukynsky were named nominees for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award on Wednesday afternoon. The trio is among 87 players battling for the award this season.
Michaels is the team's captain and is currently riding a four-game point streak. For the season, he has 17 points on seven goals and 10 assists. He's been on fire since coming back from the holiday break, posting nine points in that six-game stretch.
Grant Slukynsky has been WMU's top player so far this season, leading the Brown and Gold in points (24) and assists (19). The Warroad, Minn. native has also been red hot since returning from holiday break, scoring nine points on two goals and seven assists in that stretch.
Hampton Slukynsky has started to find his groove, helping WMU win its last seven games and 11 of its last 12. He holds a 16-6-0 record, 2.37 goals against average and. 909 save percentage so far this season. During his current seven-game winning streak, he holds a 1.28 GAA and a .953 save percentage.
The Broncos will be back in action on Friday at Minnesota Duluth. The series opener is set for 8 PM ET at AMSOIL Arena.
