IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Western Michigan women's golf team makes its way to the Hawkeye state for its next tournament of the fall season.
The Broncos will tee off in the Diane Thomason Invitational on Monday morning for a 56-hole tournament with a slate of tough competition. Competing at the Finkbine Golf Course, WMU will see 15 other teams including MAC opponents Northern Illinois and Bowling Green along with St. Thomas, Drake, Missouri State, South Dakota, Omaha, Montana State, Bradley, Southern Illinois, Creighton, Northern Iowa, North Dakota State, Southern Mississippi, and hosts Iowa. Teams will play two rounds on Monday, Sept. 29 while wrapping the invitational up with a lone round on Tuesday morning.Â
Competing for WMU on Monday will be
Megha Vallabhaneni, Danielle Dainy,
Bella Brooks,
Lauren Lupinek, and
Macy Beeson. With the first rankings of the 2025 season out, four of Western Michigan's golfers appear in the top 1,500 among Division I players. Vallabhaneni ranks the highest for the Broncos at 777th in the nation.
The Brown and Gold last competed at the Badger Invitational in mid-September where they finished 13th of 14 teams. In Madison, Vallabhaneni finished 24th, carding a 70 to end round three two under par. Vallabhaneni ended the Badger Invitational at six above par to led the team with an overall score of 222 for the tournament. Overall, WMU finished 13th of 14 as a team with a final score of 923 after shooting 319-315-299 over three rounds.Â
