Women's Soccer Returns Home for Clash Against Ohio

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team will look to keep rolling, as the Broncos host Ohio on Thursday afternoon at the WMU Soccer Complex. The game is set to begin at 4 PM.

LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan kept its unbeaten streak alive, collecting a 1-1 tie at Bowling Green on Sept. 21.

Avery Peters scored WMU's lone goal of the match, while Drew Martin tallied an assist. Reagan Sulaver continued her brilliant freshman season, stopping three shots in net.

HOME SWEET HOME
The WMU Soccer Complex has become one of the toughest places to play in the nation, with the Broncos rarely losing at their home stadium.

The Broncos have gone 14 straight games without a loss on their home field and that number grows if you look at just regular season play.

Western Michigan's regular season home unbeaten streak currently sits at 20 games. WMU's last regular season home loss came back on Sept. 3, 2023 against Wisconsin.

PETERS KEEPS PERFORMING
Graduate student midfielder Avery Peters has done nothing but produce for WMU, entering the program this offseason as a transfer from Michigan.

She has eight points on three goals and two assists so far this season and has scored at least one point in five of her last six games.

Despite not having a goal in her career prior to this season, the Mason, Mich. native has proven to be a threat in the attacking end. Peters was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, as she's currently riding a three-game goal streak.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Ohio is 3-4-3 overall, including a 1-0-2 record in MAC play. They have scored one goal in five straight games.

The Broncos trail the all-time series, 8-14-7, including a 5-7-2 record in Kalamazoo. WMU and Ohio have tied 1-1 each of the last two seasons.

Sania Dearing has paced the team in scoring, totaling six points on three goals in 10 games played. Iro Fakinou has aided the attack, chipping in five points on two goals and one assist.

In net, Celeste Sloma has started all 10 games, boasting a 3-4-3 record to go along with a .80 goals against average and .814 save percentage. She has three shutouts and 35 total saves this season.
