Men's Soccer Finalizes 2025 Roster with Addition of Five Transfers

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Head coach Chad Wiseman and the Western Michigan men's soccer program are excited to announce the final five additions to the 2025 roster.

Timi Adams, Mathieu Beuvain, Juan Romero, Piero Sabroso and Giuseppe Santacroce bring a wealth of experience and leadership to a Bronco program looking to maintain its level of excellence. WMU has made the NCAA Tournament each of the last three seasons, including Sweet 16 berths in two of the last three seasons.

"These are the final five pieces to the 2025 recruiting class," Wiseman said. "We have added a ton of college experience to the roster with these additions. All four lines have added talent, players that are really hungry to join Bronco Nation. There is a little international flavor when you look at were adding players from Peru, England and France. Leadership, we're adding three players who were captains of there pervious schools. These five players will join the seven players already announced (Jonathan Stout, Braden Stevanovic, Henrik Boer, Liam Biggers, Anthony Piacentini, Sahel Yessen, Adrian Jogerst) to make for a twelve-man recruiting class. Our 28-man roster is locked and loaded as we look to navigate what we think is an absolute jam-packed fall game schedule."

Piero Sabroso – 6'4" – 195 lbs – Graduate Transfer – Forward – Bethel University – Lima, Peru
Sabroso joins the program with a wealth of experience, spending the last two seasons at Bethel University. He started 46 matches and played in 63, while serving as a team captain. He's been a prolific goal scorer throughout his college career, scoring 45 times while dishing out four assists. The Peru native was a First Team NAIA All-American last season and was the Crossroads League Player of the Year. In 2023, he was a Second Team All-American and an All-Crossroads League First Team honoree.

"Piero is a proven goal scorer that can find the back of the net multiple ways," Wiseman said. "He is big and extremely strong but probably more impressive than both of those physical characteristics is his soccer IQ. He has a great understanding of the game and always seems to be a step or two ahead of his opponents. He knows how to finish his chances inside the box, very talented at getting on the end of services and when on the field he is always a threat to score."

Juan (Manny) Romero – 5'11" – 155 lbs - Graduate Transfer – Center Midfielder – Purdue Fort Wayne – El Paso, Texas
Romero joins the team as a coveted transfer portal piece. He spent the last two seasons at Purdue Fort Wayne and spent three years at Western Texas College before that. At PFW, Romero started all 29 matches and produced one goal and four assists. With that, he was honored with First Team All-Horizon League recognition in 2024. The year before, he was a CSC Academic All-District honoree, an All-Horizon League Second Team player and Horizon League All-Tournament Team athlete.

"Manny is a talented midfielder that can pull the strings from the holding position," said Wiseman. "Very accountable on the ball and has great ability to get out of pressure. I think Manny was the best midfielder in the Horizon league last season. Manny has remarkable soccer instincts which he uses to make the players around him better. A vocal leader on the field, plays with a lot of fight and passion which fits right into our team DNA.  He is a player with next level abilities and aspirations."

Timi Adams – 6'7" – 185 lbs – Graduate Transfer – Goal Keeper – Virginia Tech – Atlanta, Georgia
Adams is a big goalkeeper with experience in key moments. The Virginia Tech transfer stands at 6-foot-7 inches and started 13 matches for the Hokies last season. Throughout the year, he was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week following a four-save performance in a win over No. 5 Louisville. Off the field. Adams has been involved with various organizations, headlined by being the Vice President of SAAC.

"Timi is a great addition to our GK fleet," Wiseman said. "He stands large in between posts with great range of shot stopping abilities. His ACC experiences should really help him as he transitions into Bronco Nation for his final year of eligibility. He is a leader on the field and communicates well from the backline."

Giuseppe Santacroce – 5'7" – 155 lbs – Graduate Transfer – Center Midfielder – Indiana Wesleyan – London, England
Santacroce spent the last five years at Indiana Wesleyan, starting 75 of the 93 matches he played in. From the center midfield position, he has tallied 28 goals and 19 assists, which led to him being a two-time All-Crossroads League First Team honoree. Along with that, he is a two-time United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American and a one-time CSC Academic All-American. The playmaking midfielder also has valuable leadership experience, as he served as the team's captain in 2024.

"Giuseppe is a playmaker with a ton of experience," said Wiseman. "He has great vision on the field and a wide range of passing abilities. He is really good at putting his teammates in good attacking spots on the field."

Mathieu Beuvain – 5'11" – 178 lbs – Graduate Transfer – Defender – Eastern New Mexico – Cannes, France
Beuvain is a talented and experienced defender entering the program after spending the last several seasons with Eastern Nex Mexico. He started 26 of the 28 matches he played in, helping the Greyhounds post a strong defense. Along with his defensive prowess, he can get involved offensively as well. With Eastern New Mexico, Beuvain tallied a goal and two assists. Academically, Beuvain has been on the LSC Commissioners Honor Roll each of the last three seasons.

"Mathieu is an experienced defender that can play multiple positions for us," Wiseman said. "Bronco fans can expect to see him on the backline either in the middle or at the left back position. He has a lot of bite in his game, very tough on the tackle, solid 1v1 defender and plays with a lot of personality. His service from the wide areas is very dangerous, he has the ability to shape several different types of balls."
