Track and Field Lands Five Athletes on CSC Academic All-District Team

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team was announced this afternoon, with five Broncos headlining the list of honorees. 

Lane Hagens, Lily Overton, Tess Van Dyk, Madison Zarembski and Lillian Zelasko were the Western Michigan honorees. To qualify for the award, student-athletes must have a 3.5 GPA or higher while being top-50 in the region in an individual event throughout the cross country/track and field season. 

Hagens and Van Dyk were both top 50 in the region in indoor shot put, while maintaining GPA's 3.64 and 3.89 respectively. Hagens studies Psychology and Van Dyk is studying Exercise Science. They are both back-to-back honorees. 

Overton, Zarembski and Zelasko are all distance runners with each of them having GPA's of 3.70 or higher. Overton (Exercise Science) and Zarembski (Elementary Education) were top 50 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Zelasko (Political Science) secured All-Region honors during cross country and was top 50 in both the 5K and 10K this season. 

All five student-athletes scored at the MAC Championships and have eligibility to return next season.
