CLEVELAND – Western Michigan graduate student left-hander
Reese Gaber has been named MAC Co-Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. It is the second Pitcher of the Week award this season for Gaber, who also claimed the honor on March 24.
The Stevens Point, Wis., native tossed the first 6.0 innings of Western Michigan's combined no-hitter on Sunday against The Citadel. Gaber combined with righties
DJ Thompson (2.0 IP) and Turner Duran (1.0 IP) for the no-hitter, which was the 17th in program history and WMU's first since 1997.
An error and a walk created some early trouble for the southpaw, but he picked up three strikeouts to keep the Bulldogs off of the scoreboard in the opening frame. Gaber was on his way from there, not allowing The Citadel to have multiple runners reach in the same inning the rest of the way. He erased a few free passes with pickoffs, and also induced a double play in the fifth. Overall, he racked up a season-high seven strikeouts to collect his second win and WMU's second shutout of 2025.
Western Michigan continues its homestand on Wednesday as it welcomes Goshen College to Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 pm. For tickets to any WMU baseball home game, visit
