KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan track and field team produced strong results at the Spartan Invite, headlined by a pair of top-10 marks in program history.
Ava Kurczewski collected the fifth best time in program history in the 3K steeplechase, posting a time of 10:49.69.
CJ Nixon also recorded a good time, crossing the finish line in 11:53.82.
Bri'Yanna Robinson registered the other top-10 mark, earning a throw of 55.25 meters in the hammer throw to win the event. That mark is good for fifth in program history.
There were plenty of other PR's during the meet, beginning with the 800-meter run.
Lily Overton had a personal-best time of 2:20.68, while
Rebekah Asselin collected a time of 2:18.30.
Reagan Viau finished the race in a time of 2:31.48.
In the 1,500-meter run, Overton earned another PR time. She crossed the finish line in a time of 4:40.15.
Lillian Zelasko and Asselin were right behind her, collecting times of 4:41.13 and 4:43.15, respectively. Asselin's time was a PR.
Lara Machado Pereira (4:45.29),
Madison Zarembski (4:52.99) and
Larissa McGrath (4:53.59) also posted great times, with McGrath earning a PR.
To round out the distance events,
Lauren Sancrant collected a PR time of 17:29.67 in the 5K.
Madison Clor also competed in the event, registering a time of 18:43.24. On the throws side,
Lane Hagens finished second in the discus with a mark of 45.50 meters.
Tess Van Dyk then finished second in the shot put with a throw of 14.15 meters.
Mimi Joseph was then able to post a jump of 5.17 meters in the long jump. To round out the meet,
Jade Celestine was great in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. She had times of 14.43 and 1:05.24, respectively.
