Anton Arzhankin has been voted the 2025 Mid-American Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year, while sophomore
Ashton Adesoro as been named Second Team All-MAC.
Arzhankin went 8-1 in MAC singles play this season, all at No. 1. His lone loss came because of a withdrawal due to injury. The Moscow, Russia, native went 21-3 overall in singles matches during the Spring and 36-6 including the Fall competition. The 36 wins is a new single-season record, surpassing WMU Hall of Famer Fernando Garcia and Mike Kiewiet's previous mark of 34.Â
Arzhankin was also named First Team All-MAC, becoming the lone player in WMU men's tennis history to earn First Team honors four times. He finishes his career fifth all-time in program history in singles wins at 107. Combined with doubles, his 175 total wins ties him for 19th, with Kazuya Komada, on the Bronco Wins List.
Adesoro was 5-5 in MAC singles play, going 5-4 at No. 2 and 0-1 at No. 1. He was 14-10 overall in the Spring and 25-15 going back to the Fall. The St. Paul, Minn., native paired up with freshman
Jack Davison and dominated MAC doubles, going 6-1. The duo was also 11-1 in dual matches this season. This is the first All-MAC honors for Adesoro in is young career.Â
