Slukynsky and Washe Earn NCHC Monthly Honors

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced its final monthly awards, with Tim Washe and Hampton Slukynsky being honored for their play throughout the months of March and April.

Washe was named the league's Player of the Month after producing 15 points on six goals and nine assists. He led the league in points and assists between the months of March and April. He averaged 1.36 points per game, leading WMU to the NCAA National Championship.

He was a great leader for the Broncos, finishing the 11-game stretch with a +6 rating and two game-winning goals. That brought his total up to eight on the season, which is the program's single-season record. His game-winning goal against UMass in regionals sent the Broncos to their first ever Frozen Four.

Washe finished the season with a career high 38 points. He had 16 goals and 22 assists, while boasting a +22 rating. He also led the NCHC in faceoff win percentage for the third consecutive season. Earlier this week, the Clarkston, Mich. native signed a one-year entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks. He made his NHL debut on Tuesday.

Slukynsky was honored as the conference's Rookie of the Month. The Warroad, Minn. native was sensational throughout the last 11 games of the season. He was 10-1-0 with a 1.97 goals against average and .907 save percentage. He led the NCHC in wins and GAA during that stretch.

When it mattered most, Slukynsky stepped up, as he helped the Broncos win the National Championship. In the NCAA Tournament, the Los Angeles Kings draft pick went 4-0-0 with a 1.26 GAA and .943 save percentage. He was named to the Fargo Region All-Tournament Team and the Frozen Four All-Tournament Team.

He concluded his rookie season with a 19-5-1 record, 1.90 GAA and .922 save percentage. He led the NCHC in GAA this season and was tied for fourth in save percentage (.002 off the league leader).

Washe, Slukynsky and the Broncos had a historic 2024-25 season, winning the program's first ever National Championship. To go along with that, WMU collected an NCAA leading and program-best 34 victories. Western Michigan became just the second team in NCHC history to win both the regular season and tournament titles in the same season.
