KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team heads on the road to take on Eastern Michigan on Friday at 12 p.m. before returning home to host Toledo on Sunday at 12 p.m.
Last week the Broncos split a pair of home matches against the Eagles and Northern Illinois. WMU took down EMU, 4-3, in a thriller that was ended by Bronco graduate student
Christine Gouws winning her third tie-breaker set of her match to give WMU the victory. NIU then topped WMU 6-1 on Sunday after the Broncos had taken the doubles point.
Western Michigan heads into Friday's match tied with the Eagles for third in the MAC West with a 1-2 conference record. After falling to WMU, EMU went on to beat Ball State at home, 4-3. Toledo is 2-1 and plays in the East division. After dropping MAC-opener, 4-3, to Miami, the Rockets picked up back-to-back wins at Buffalo (4-3) and at home against Bowling Green (7-0).
Last season, the Broncos lost 7-0 to Toledo in their only match and then split the series with Eastern Michigan, with the home team taking each victory.
Western Michigan returns to action next Friday, hosting Ball State on Friday at 12 p.m. and then heads to Northern Illinois to take on the Huskies on Sunday.
