OLDSMAR, Fla. -- The Western Michigan golf team repeated as Butler Don Benbow Spring Invitational Champions after closing out the tournament with a 316, edging out the host Bulldogs by four strokes at East Lake Woodlands Golf Club on Tuesday.

WMU led going into the final round, but in the stretch run the Broncos had dropped back to second place, passed up by Fairleigh Dickinson, but Knights faded and WMU held steady to secure the trophy. 

This is the 20th tournament win in program history and the second under head coach Kim Moore.

Individually, Megha Vallabhaneni was WMU's top finisher, tying for fifth place. After opening the tournament with a 79 (+7), she rebounded on Tuesday and shot a 76 (+4) to climb the leaderboard. Her second round featured 12 pars and one birdie. 

Freshman Lauren Lupinek turned in a top-10 finish, tying for seventh and finishing one stroke back of Vallabhaneni with  36-hole total of 156. Fellow Freshman Saanvi Venkatesh was just one stroke back of Lupinek with a 157, and tying for 11th. 

Junior Jenna Hayes was one stroke off of a Top-20 finish, shooting a 159 to tie for 21st. WMU's five was rounded out by Bella Brooks, who shot a 163 after a final round of 81. Macy Beeson competed as an individual tied with Brooks, while Ally Barth shot a 165 as an individual to finish just behind them. 

Western Michigan takes a week off before heading to The Nashville Invitational, hosted by Lipscomb, March 24-25.
