SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The Western Michigan golf team wrapped up the opening two rounds of the San Diego State Classic at Bernando Heights Country Club on Monday.
The Broncos combined to shoot an opening round of 318 and improved in the second round to finish with a combined 305 for a 623 (+47) on the day.
Junior
Megha Vallabhaneni was WMU's top finisher on the day, opening with a 78 (+6) and finishing strong with a par round of 72.
Lauren Lupinek also opened with a 78 and finished up with a 77.
Bella Brooks was the team's third finisher with a first-round score of 80 and a 77 in the second round.
Jenna Hayes rounded out WMU's lineup with an 84 and an 80. Vallabhaneni, Lupinek and Brooks each had four birdies on the day.
Freshman
Saanvi Venkatesh competed individually and shot an 82 in the opening round and shaved off three strokes in round two for a 79.
The Broncos are back at it again on Tuesday morning for the final round beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
