KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- For the fourth consecutive week, the Western Michigan women's soccer team has had a player win a Mid-American Conference weekly award.
Heidi Thomasma claimed the league's Defensive Player of the Week honor, the league announced this afternoon.
Thomasma helped Western Michigan to an undefeated weekend, collecting a goal while playing the full 90 minutes against both UMass and Ball State. Against the Minutewomen, Thomasma got the offense going, sparking a five-goal outing. Her goal came in the fifth minute and WMU never trailed from that moment on.
Defensively, the Grand Rapids native helped WMU's defense limit its opponents to just seven shots on goal. Thomasma has two goals and hasn't missed a minute of game action this season.
Thomasma and the Broncos will be back in action tomorrow night at Northern Illinois. The two teams will meet at 8 PM ET at the NIU Soccer Complex.
