Martin, Pierre-Webster, Sulaver and Robinson Earn MAC Specialty Awards; Seven Broncos Named All-Conference

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team was well represented on the Mid-American Conference postseason awards, as seven players were named to the All-Conference team, while Drew Martin, Reagan Sulaver, Mira Pierre-Webster and Lewis Robinson all earned specialty awards.

Martin was named the Midfielder of the Year after posting incredible numbers. The Bloomfield Hills, Mich. native had a team-leading 17 points in conference play. The Brown and Gold scored 28 times in league play, and Martin was in on 14 of those tallies. Martin had three goals and a league-leading 11 assists in MAC play. She had at least one point in eight of the 12 conference matches this season.

Pierre-Webster was announced as the Defensive Player of the Year. The Canadian defender is a two-time recipient of the award, claiming the honor back in 2023 as well. Pierre-Webster spearheaded the league's best defense, limiting opponents to just eight goals in conference play. She was also an offensive weapon, scoring four points on one goal and two assists against MAC foes. Her lone goal was the game winner against Eastern Michigan.

Sulaver claimed the Freshman of the Year award, becoming the first Bronco to ever claim that honor. She started all 12 games in net, boasting a 10-1-1 record to go along with a 0.43 goals against average and .844 save percentage. Conference opponents were only able to beat her five times this season, as she posted six shutouts in league play.

Robinson was named the MAC Coach of the Year for the third straight season, guiding Western Michigan to one of the best seasons in MAC history. The Broncos finished the MAC season with a 10-1-1 record and 31 total points. That is the second highest point total in league history. Robinson and the Broncos have won three straight MAC regular season titles, becoming the first team in league history to accomplish that feat. WMU is 26-1-7 over the last three seasons.

Joining Martin, Sulaver and Pierre-Webster on the All-MAC Teams were Abby Smothers (First Team), Madi Canada (Second Team), Avery Peters (Second Team) and Heidi Thomasma (Second Team). Smothers was one of the top forwards in the league, finishing the MAC season with 15 points on six goals and three assists. Her six goals were tied for the league lead. She is WMU's all-time leader in career points.

Canada made her presence known in MAC play, totaling seven points on two goals and three assists over the 12-game league season. The veteran midfielder had the game-winning goal against UMass. Peters was a great add out of the transfer portal, adding five goals and one assist to WMU's potent attack. She was big down the stretch, as she posted three goals in the final four games of the season. Thomasma was just as big for the Broncos, helping keep teams off the board. WMU's defense was the best in the league, allowing just eight goals all season. Thomasma played every minute during MAC play, scoring a goal against UMass.

The Broncos are now the one seed in the MAC Tournament, awaiting the winner of Ball State and Kent State. WMU will play in the MAC semifinals on Nov. 4 at 4 PM.
