KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Fresh off of a sweep of UMass Lowell this past weekend, Western Michigan was able to maintain its spot in the national polls.
The Broncos sit at No. 2 in both the USCHO and USA Hockey polls this week. WMU earned nine first-place votes in the USCHO poll, while garnering five in the USA Hockey rankings.
Michigan State topped both polls, with Michigan, Boston University and Penn State rounding out the top five in both polls. MSU, WMU and UM were the only three to get multiple first-place votes.
NCHC wise, the Broncos were joined by Denver, North Dakota, Colorado College and Minnesota Duluth in the national rankings. Arizona State, Miami and St. Cloud State were receiving votes. Omaha was the lone team in the conference to be excluded from recognition.
The Brown and Gold have a home-and-home series with No. 3 Michigan this week, opening the series in Ann Arbor on Thursday before returning to Lawson Arena on Friday. Both games are set for 7 PM.
