Women's Soccer Set to Host UMass

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team will host UMass on Thursday afternoon at the WMU Soccer Complex. The two teams will meet at 4 PM.

LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan dominated Toledo on Sept. 28, downing the Rockets by a final score of 3-0.

Justina L'Esperance, Meredith Vance and Sammi Glover scored goals in the match, while Madi Canada (x2), Drew Martin and Ava Beckett had assists. In net, Reagan Sulaver made six saves to earn her fourth career shutout.

BLAZING BRONCOS
The Broncos have been on a roll since dropping their first two games of the season to No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 7 Iowa.

The Brown and Gold haven't lost in their last eight matches, going 7-0-1 in that stretch. Offensive has played a big role in that, as the team has scored 18 goals in those eight matches.

Abby Werthman, Drew Martin and Avery Peters have led the way, combining to produce 30 points on 11 goals and eight assists so far this season.

MIRA LEADS THE WAY
Senior defender Mira Pierre-Webster has been the anchor of a strong defensive unit this season, limiting opponents to just nine goals in 10 games.

Pierre-Webster missed all of last season with a knee injury. Before that, she was the 2023 MAC Defensive Player of the Year.

Her return has been big for the Broncos, as she's already been named MAC Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2025. She is the only defender in the conference to earn the honor more than once so far this year.

She's also shown some offensive talent, tallying an assist against Miami earlier in the season.

SCOUTING THE MINUTEWOMEN
UMass is 1-3-1 over its last five matches, picking up a win over Akron back on Sept. 18.

The Broncos and Minutewomen have never played prior to Thursday's matchup. UMass joined the MAC this season.

Morgan Bellamy has been the team's best offensive weapon, entering the match with five points on two goals and one assist. Amelia Bloom and Kaila Steen have each chipped in one goal and one assist so far this season.

In net, Leah Nisenfeld has started all nine matches. She has a 3-4-2 overall record to go along with a 1.33 goals against average and .782 save percentage. She has three shutouts and 43 total saves.
