Broncos Claim First-Place Vote, Ranked Third in Latest Polls

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – After a sweep of Miami this past weekend, Western Michigan was able to retain its spot in the national rankings, which were released this afternoon.

The Broncos were ranked third and received a first-place vote in the USCHO poll. This is the first time since the 2021-22 season that the program has received a first-place vote. In the USA Hockey Poll, the Brown and Gold were also ranked third, which is up one spot from last week. WMU jumped over Minnesota.

Outside of the Broncos, the NCHC had three other teams ranked. Denver, Arizona State and North Dakota hung around the top 20 this week. Colorado College, St. Cloud State and Omaha were all receiving votes in both polls.

Western Michigan will be on the road his week to take on Colorado College. WMU went 1-0-1 against the Tigers in Kalamazoo earlier this season. Friday's series opener is set for 9 PM EST on CBS Sports Network.
