The Brown and Gold defeated Villanova University 5-1 during WMU Bronco Soccer Fest on Labor Day, Monday, September 2. In the victory, Greyson Mercer (2 goals), Noah James (2 goals), and Roni Sylejmani (1 goal) provided a balanced scoring attack for the Brown and Gold. With the victory, head coach Chad Wiseman set the all-time coaching wins record for the WMU men's soccer team with a 126th win. En route to their five-goal outburst, the Brown and Gold have outscored opponents 10-3 through four games to begin the 2024 campaign.

Scouting the Wildcats

#9 Northwestern enters the contest with a 4-0 record for the first time in program history after defeating University of Illinois Chicago 1-0 on Monday. During the contest, sophomore midfielder Peter Riesz continued to bolster the Wildcat offense and became the seventh different player to score for Northwestern this season. Throughout NU's four-game win streak, the team has outscored its opponents 7-2.

A Historic Matchup at The Farm

For the second time ever in program history, the men's soccer team will host a top-10 matchup at WMU Soccer Complex. The last time two top-10 teams squared off at "The Farm" was on November 12, 2017, in the Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship, when #4 WMU hosted #7 University of Akron.

WMU's Success vs Big Ten Opponents

Since 2019, the Brown and Gold feature an impressive record of 6-0-1 against teams from the Big Ten conference.  During the 2022 campaign, the men's soccer team collected a sweep over its Big Ten slate with a 1-0 win at Michigan State (Sept.1), a 2-1 win over Wisconsin (Sept.5), and a 3-0 victory over Northwestern (Sept.9).

WMU's Unbeaten Streak

The Brown and Gold enter Friday's matchup with a 25-game unbeaten streak dating back to August 27, 2023, with a 3-1 road victory over Utah Valley University. Coinciding with this streak, the Brown and Gold have boasted an impressive 11-0-2 record at WMU Soccer Complex since the 2023 campaign.
