KALAMAZOO, Mich., -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team picked up 16 more total wins as it wrapped up hosting the WMU/Vredevelt Invitational at Sorensen Courts on Saturday.
Senior Anton Arzhankin and sophomore Ashton Adesoro were named Co-MVPs and earned spots on the All-Tournament Team, along with Bronco freshman Jack Davison and Cleveland States Nico Jamison and Cole Chappell.
In the final round of doubles, Arzhankin and Alex Antopoulos earned a 6-3 win over Butler's duo of Konakanchi and Joss. Drew Evans and Oscar Corwin defeated the Bulldogs' Arts and Lama, 6-3, while Davison and Adesoro defeated Balthazor and Pensaville, 6-1. WMU's final doubles win came from Brogan Pierce and Dimitri Moriarty, defeating Hadziabidic and Rothchild, 6-4.
Broncos won five matches in the second round of singles, with Adesoro, Corwin, Arzhankin, Davison and Moriarty all picking up victories. Adesoro, Corwin and Arzhankin all dispatched their opponents in two sets.
WMU notched seven wins in the final round. This time it was Adesoro, Antonopoulos, Adrian Quiros, Arzahnkin, Davison, Soloman Dunsirn and Matej Kajzer with the victories.
Western Michigan heads next to the Milwaukee Tennis Classic beginning on Friday.
