KEWADIN, Mich. – Western Michigan junior Megha Vallabhaneni finished in fourth place as the Western Michigan golf team wrapped up the A-Ga-Ming Invitational, hosted by Central Michigan, at the A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort on Monday afternoon.
Vallabhaneni shot her best round of the tournament, dropping a 74 for a 54-hole total of 226 (+4) after a pair of 76's on Sunday. It is the third Top-5 finish for the Northville, Mich., native in her career.
The Broncos also finished fourth overall with a score of 924 (+60) after shooting its best round of the tournament on the final day, a 302. Bradley came out on top with a 910 (+46), while Bowling Green finished in second and the host Chippewas in third.
Junior Jenna Hayes just missed out on the top 10, finishing just three strokes behind Vallabhaneni with a 229 in a four-way tie for 12th. Hayes wrapped up her first tournament of the season with a 76 in the final round after shooting a 75 and 78 on Sunday. Sophomore Bella Brooks was WMU's third finisher and placed in a five-way tie for 24th after shooting a final round of 78 for a 235. Classmate Macy Beeson finished two strokes behind her, while freshman Lauren Lupinek shot a 243 in her first collegiate tournament.
The Broncos have a week off before heading to the annual BK Cardinal Classic at The Player's Club in Yorktown, Ind., hosted by Ball State on Sept. 16-17.
