Vallabhaneni and Hayes Sit Tied for Fifth After First Two Rounds at A-Ga-Ming Invite

KEWADIN, Mich. -- The Western Michigan golf team combined to shoot a 621 iin the opening two rounds and sit in fourth place at the A-Ga-Ming Invitational, hosted by Central Michigan, on Sunday. 

The Broncos are just five strokes back second place Bradley and four back from CMU. WMU is just 11 strokes from leader Bowling Green.  

Individually, juniors Megha Vallabhaneni and Jenna Hayes are in a five-way tie for fifth place and are just three strokes off leader Caroline McConnell from BU. Vallabhaneni opened with a 76 and matched that in the second round for a 152. Hayes shot a first round of 75 and followed it up with a 77.  

Sophomore Bella Brooks is just five shots behind the pair of juniors. Brooks opened with an 80 but had a much improved second round, shooting a 77 to finish the day at 157 and just outside the top 20. Macy Beeson started off strong with a 76 in the opening round, but had some struggles in the second round to finish with a 36-hole total of 163 on the day, while freshman Lauren Lupinek rounded out WMU's top five with a 166 after an 82 and an 84.  

The Broncos look to make their move in the final round beginning on Monday morning.
