KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced the addition of 62 players to the league's Academic All-Coference Team, including six Broncos. 

Alex Bump, Sam Colangelo, Cole Crusberg-Roseen, Owen Michaels, Ean Somoza and Garrett Szydlowski were the WMU additions, bringing the team total up to 22 for the season. Of those 22 players, 14 were Distinguished Scholar Athletes. 

Bump finished his rookie campaign with a 3.11 GPA in sport management. On the ice, he was named to the NCHC All-Rookie Team and finished the season with 36 points on 14 goals and 22 assists. 

Colangelo was just as strong in the classroom, finishing the year with a 3.16 GPA in university studies. On the ice, he was an Honorable Mention All-NCHC performer. He led the team in goals with 24 and finished the year with 43 total points. 

Crusberg-Roseen garnered Distinguished Scholar Athlete status after posting a 4.00 GPA in pre-business law in his first year at Western Michigan. On the ice, he played in 22 games, totaling three assists and six blocked shots. 

Michaels was another strong freshman for the Broncos, concluding the year with a 3.76 GPA in pre-business. That earned him Distinguished Scholar Athlete recognition. As an athlete, Michaels posted great numbers, finishing the season with seven points on two goals and five assists. 

Somoza was great in the classroom, earning a 3.90 GPA in personal financial planning. That made him a Distinguished Scholar Athlete. He played in 10 games before suffering a season-ending injury. 

Szydlowski concluded the year with NCHC Distinguished Scholar Athlete honors, thanks to a 3.80 GPA in advertising and promotion. He did not appear in a game in 2023-24.
