KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Belfast Giants have signed
Zak Galambos to a professional contract for the 2024-25 season.
Galambos joined the program prior to the 2022-23 season and immediately made an impact. He led all defenseman on the team in points, goals and assists, playing in all 39 games.
During his final year with the team in 2023-24, Galambos was just as dominant. Once again, he led all defenseman on the team in goals and points, while boasting a +16 rating. His four game-winning goals tied for the team lead.
He was strong in big moments, including a goal in the 2023-24 NCAA Tournament against Michigan State. For his career, Galambos had seven game-winning goals (six with WMU).
He ends his college career having played in 133 games, tallying 90 points on 29 goals and 61 assists. Over half of his points came in his final two years at WMU (50). He also finishes his college playing days with a +51 rating, including a +46 in his final two years with the Brown and Gold.
Team wise, Galambos helped the Broncos to a third straight NCAA Tournament, which had never been done in program history prior to this season. Additionally, Western Michigan has surpassed 20 victories each of the last three years.
