Christian Shannon Named to USL League Two May Team of the Month

UNITED STATES –  Western Michigan men's soccer redshirt freshman Christian Shannon was named to the USL League Two (USL 2) May Team of the Month Friday. The Team of the Month was decided by USL league officials based on excellent performances during the month of May.

Shannon, playing for Midwest United FC this summer, has helped his squad to first place in the Great Lakes Division with a record of 7-1-1. Shannon and Midwest United have the best goal differential in the Great Lakes Division at +8 behind five shutouts, 14 goals scored, and six goals allowed. In addition to locking up opposing offenses, in nine games played (nine starts), Shannon has added a goal in the final third of the field for Midwest United.

USL 2 is an amateur/semi-professional soccer league sponsored by United Soccer Leagues in the United States and Canada. The league holds a vital role as it continues to provide an elite platform for those pursuing professional careers domestically and internationally. Throughout the United States and Canada, USL 2 franchises continue to provide top pre-professional players the opportunity to train and compete at the highest level while maintaining their collegiate eligibility. With ownership of teams coming from the likes of USL franchises as well as leading business and sports individuals, USL 2 serves as the leading development platform for the game both on and off the field.
