BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Western Michigan sophomore Megha Vallabhaneni jumped six spots up the leaderboard to finish fourth overall at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational at Stone Ridge Golf Club on Sunday.
After shooting a 73 on Saturday, she shot a 70 (-2) to finish with a 143. Her second round featured five birdies and 10 pars. The back nine was where Vallabhaneni did most of her damage, going -3.
As a team, WMU jumped four spots to finish third overall, shooting a 295 in the final round for a total of 598 (+22), the fourth-lowest 36-hole tournament total in program history.
The Broncos also had two other golfers finish in the top 20. Graduate student Natalie Samdal matched her first day total with another 75, tying for 15th with a 150 (+6), Sophomore Jenna Hayes climbed four spot and tied for 20th with a 151 (+7). Alissa Fish shot a 154 (+10) and freshman Isabella Brooks took eight shots off her opening round to finish with a 164 (+20) to round out WMU's top five.
Western Michigan now has a week off to prepare for the Mid-American Conference Championship, hosted by Ohio at the Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City, April 21-23.
