EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Western Michigan took a short trip over to Michigan State this afternoon, collecting some great results at the Spartan Invite.
To open the day on the track,
Larissa McGrath had a big PR in the 5,000-meter run. She posted a time of 17:45.79, which is nearly 10 seconds faster than her previous best time. She finished sixth in the event.
Following that,
Madison Zarembski and
Delaney Knoll were excellent in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The duo finished second and third, respectively. Zarembski crossed the finish line in a time of 11:29.03, while Knoll grabbed a time of 11:53.32.
Then,
Rebekah Asselin competed in the seeded 1,500-meter run. She concluded the race with a time of 4:51.34. To end the running events for the day,
Maggie Raab and
LaJeanee' Porter raced in the 800-meter run. Raab notched a time of 2:23.47, while Porter recorded a time of 2:25.10.
On the throws side,
Bri'Yanna Robinson posted a mark of 13.78 meters in the shot put. That put her in third place and was her best mark of the season thus far. Robinson and
Mariah Sackett concluded the day with strong results in the discus. Sackett finished third in the open portion with a PR throw of 39.62 meters. In the invite section, Robinson's throw of 44.14 meters landed her in third place.

WMU will host the Jack Shaw Invitational next weekend. The meet is set to begin on Friday, April 12 and conclude on Saturday, April 13.
