CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly track and field awards this afternoon, headlined by graduate student
Kayla Schiera earning Track Athlete of the Week honors.Â
Schiera was outstanding at the Raleigh Relays, breaking the school record in the 3,000-meter steeple chase with a time of 10:03.93. Her time is more than 30 seconds faster than the next best time in school history, and she beat four All Americans from different programs.Â
Furthermore, her time is currently the third fastest in the country and the top overall time in the MAC. She leads the conference by more than 20 seconds. She becomes the second Bronco to earn a MAC Athlete of the Week honor during this year's track season.Â
Schiera and the Broncos will be back in action on Friday, April 5 at the Spartan Invite. Then, the team will host the Jack Shaw Invitational the following weekend.Â
