JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Competing on the first day of the NCAA East Preliminaries, Western Michigan was able to post some strong results.
Mabinty Kebe was the star of the day, earning a spot in the NCAA Quarterfinals in the 400-meter hurdles. The Columbus native posted a time of 58.22 to secure a qualifying spot. The quarterfinal race will be on Saturday, May 31 at 7:25 PM ET. The top 12 runners advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Sandra Ferrari finished 27th in the region after notching a top mark of 5.95 meters in the long jump. She finishes the season as a First Team All-MAC honoree and is now a two-time NCAA Regional qualifier.
The shot put was postponed until tomorrow at 10 a.m. due to inclement weather.
Bri'Yanna Robinson will look to claim her spot in the NCAA Championships in that event.
