Track and Field Breaks More Records at Clark Wood Open

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Bri'Yanna Robinson's school record in the shot put headlined a great weekend at the Clark Wood Open for the Western Michigan track and field team.

Robinson posted a mark of 15.89 meters to shatter the school record. Prior to this weekend, she held the sixth best mark in program history. Tess Van Dyk and Lane Hagens also competed in the shot put, with Van Dyk earning a PR mark of 13.88 meters. Hagens finished the event with a throw of 12.97 meters.

Sandra Ferrari also had a great day between the track and field events. She elevated herself to third in program history in both the long jump and 100-meter hurdles. The Broncos had two other top-10 marks coming out of the weekend. First, WMU's 4x100 relay team of Ferrari, Mabinty Kebe, Desormes and Jones was able to nab a time of 45.93. That was good for eighth in program history. Following that, Van Dyk claimed the 10th best discus mark in program history. She had a throw of 46.41 meters.

Along with Van Dyk winning in the discus, the Brown and Gold also claimed second, fourth and ninth in the event. Hagens had a PR mark of 45.43 meters to finish second, while Robinson notched a throw of 44.75 meters to finish fourth. Mariah Sackett finished the event in ninth place with a personal-best throw of 41.50 meters. Sackett then concluded the throwing events for the weekend with a mark of 39.67 meters in hammer throw.

Anichka Malachi and Layla Wallace were strong in the long jump, earning marks of 5.45 meters and 4.23 meters, respectively. Malachi closed out the field events with a leap of 11.76 meters in the triple jump.

The last two events for the Broncos were the 400-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash. In the hurdles, Claira Gilchrist was able to post a season-best time of 1:03.70. In the 200-meter dash.
