CLEVELAND – The Western Michigan men's tennis team landed three players on the All-Mid-American Conference Team, released by the MAC on Thursday morning.
Senior
Benjamin George and junior
Anton Arzhankin were named First Team All-MAC and senior
Jackson Boone was named Second Team All-MAC. George also was named the co-recipient of the Jack Vredevelt Sportsmanship Award with Ball State's Vince Orlando.
George went 10-0 in MAC singles play, going 2-0 at No. 1 and 8-0 at No. 2. He was also 6-4 in doubles play with partner
Drew Evans. Arzhankin was 9-1 in single play with a 7-1 record at No. 1 and a 2-0 record at No. 2. The Moscow, Russia, native was 6-2 with Boone as his doubles partner. Boone was 6-4 in conference singles, with a 5-0 record at No. 4 and a 1-4 record at No. 1 and 6-2 with Arzhankin as WMU's top doubles pair.
For George and Arzhankin, it is the second-straight time they have been named First Team All-MAC. Boone earns the all-conference honors for the first time in his career.
All three helped Western Michigan to its 29th MAC Regular Season Championship, with the Broncos going 8-2 in conference play.
