KALAMAZOO, Mich. – With the college hockey season ending this past weekend, the final USCHO and USA Hockey/The Rink Live polls were released this afternoon. Western Michigan concluded the season ranked among the nation's best.
In both the USCHO and USA Hockey/The Rink Live polls, the Broncos came in at No. 14. Western Michigan was ranked the entire season and has been featured in every top-20 poll since October of 2021.
The Brown and Gold ended the season with a 21-16-1 record and made a third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. Furthermore, WMU has won more than 20 games each of the last three seasons.
Thanks to the team's success on the ice,
Luke Grainger and
Sam Colangelo were honored as All-NCHC performers, while
Alex Bump earned NCHC All-Rookie status. Grainger was also the league's Senior Scholar Athlete Award winner.
Additionally, four Broncos have signed professional contracts thus far. Colangelo signed with the Anaheim Ducks,
Dylan Wendt inked a deal with the New Jersey Devils, Grainger signed on to play with San Jose and
Chad Hillebrand has a contract to play with Colorado.
