KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Western Michigan posted eight personal-best performances and won eight events at the Jack Shaw Invitational this afternoon at the Kanley Track.
Bri'Yanna Robinson also had a top-10 shot put mark in program history.
Robinson headlined the day by earning the sixth best shot put mark in program history. She had a throw of 14.56 meters. Outside of her,
Tess Van Dyk and
Lane Hagens finished second and third, respectively. Van Dyk recorded a mark of 13.59 meters, while Hagens was able to notch a throw of 12.49 meters.
To open the field portion of the meet, the Brown and Gold were able to finish first, third, fourth and fifth in the long jump.
Sandra Ferrari posted the top jump of 5.89 meters.
Layla Wallace had a PR jump of 5.41 meters, while
Anichka Malachi was able to record a mark of 5.36 meters.
Mimi Joseph rounded out the WMU performers with a jump of 5.34 meters.
Following that,
Delaney Knoll was strong in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing first with a PR time of 11:42.12. She lapped the field during the event. Following that,
Madison Zarembski posted a PR time of 4:51.42 in the 1,500-meter run.
Larissa McGrath (5:00.76) and
LaJeanee' Porter (5:07.74) were also strong in the event.
Then,
Mabinty Kebe finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.11. Wallace followed that up with a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash, coming from behind to win the event with a time of 1:00.92.
A little later,
Maggie Raab went on to to record a time of 2:22.50 in the 800-meter run. That was good for second place. Porter finished fifth with a time of 2:31.77. The Broncos had a trio of good results in the 200-meter dash, getting a PR time of 25.13 from
Laurie-Ann Desormes. Ferrari posted a time of 26.25, while
Claira Gilchrist was able to register a PR time of 26.39.
Just as she did in the long jump, Ferrari was also able to claim first in the triple jump. She posted a winning mark of 11.64 meters.
Throwing wise, WMU was dominant in the discus, earning the first, second and third spots. Robinson won the event with a throw of 45.58 meters, Van Dyk was second with a mark of 43.71 meters and
Lane Hagens finished third with a throw of 39.06 meters.
Mariah Sackett finished with a mark of 32.94 meters.
In the hammer throw, Robinson and
Kennedy Hagens finished first and second, respectively. Sackett was able to claim fifth. Robinson won the event with a throw of 50.05 meters, while Hagens notched a mark of 43.78 meters. Sackett rounded out the WMU performers with a throw of 39.43 meters.
To end the meet, Western Michigan won the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:10.54. The Broncos' team featured Wallace, Desormes, Gilchrist and Malachi.
