Kayla Schiera headlined a strong day for the Western Michigan track and field team, as she shattered the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Her mark also sits as the third best time in the nation. 
Competing at the Raleigh Relays, Schiera posted a time of 10:03.93, which is more than 30 seconds better than the next best time in program history. In the process, Schiera bested four All-American performers from other programs. 
Danielle Rinn, 
Lillian Zelasko and 
Brooke Soper all ran in the 5,000-meter run, with Rinn and Zelasko cracking the program's top 10. Rinn paced the Broncos with a time of 16:46.37, while Zelasko posted a time of 16:52.66. Rinn's time is sixth in program history, while Zelakso moves into seventh all-time. Soper wasn't too far off of a top-10 time, crossing the finish line in 17:32.58. 
Annalise James also competed at the Raleigh Relays, taking part in the 1,500-meter run. She was able to post a time of 4:35.46, which fell just shy of a top-10 mark in program history. 
In the throwing events, 
Lane Hagens was excellent in the discus, earning a mark of 42.98 meters, which led the team at the meet. 
Bri'Yanna Robinson and 
Tess Van Dyk also competed, earning throws of 36.94 meters and 35.45 meters, respectively. 
Moving to the Bobcat Invitational, 
Anichka Malachi competed in the long jump earning a mark of 5.51 meters. Following that, 
Claira Gilchrist raced in the 400-meter hurdles, registering a time of 1:08.37. To conclude the day, 
Soniya Jones finished the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.05. 
Over at the Texas Relays, Western Michigan started things out with a bang, earning a time of 46.63 in the 4x100 relay. WMU's team was 
Sandra Ferrari, 
Mimi Joseph, 
Laurie-Ann Desormes and Jones. 
Following that, Ferrari was strong in the 100-meter hurdles, notching a time of 13.80. Later, Jones and Desormes took part in the 100-meter dash, collecting times of 11.93 and 12.13, respectively. 
Ferrari followed up her 100-meter hurdles performance with another strong showing in the long jump. She was able to finish the event with a mark of 5.97 meters. After qualifying for the 400-meter hurdles last night, 
Mabinty Kebe was able to post a time of 1:01.00 in the finals.
