Hockey Ranked No. 15 in Latest Polls

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan continued its run of being ranked in the national polls, with the USCHO and USA Hockey/The Rink Live rankings coming out this afternoon.

The Broncos were ranked No. 15 in both polls this week. Denver, North Dakota, Omaha, Colorado College and St. Cloud State joined the Broncos as top-20 teams. The NCHC is one of two conferences to have six or more teams ranked.

WMU has a week off coming up but will learn its NCAA Tournament fate on Sunday, March 24. The Broncos currently sit at No. 13 in the pairwise, which is above the projected cut line.

Should Western Michigan make the tournament, it would go to one of four regional sites. The regional sites are Maryland Heights, Mo., Providence, RI, Sioux Falls, SD and Springfield, Mass. The Frozen Four is in St. Paul, Minn.

This season, WMU has been celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Bronco Varsity Hockey, which has been commemorated in a variety of ways, including a special 50th Anniversary logo at center ice, special in-game tributes throughout the season, and a special Alumni Weekend for Bronco Hockey on Jan. 26-27. In addition, every season ticket holder has received a special 50th Anniversary puck to commemorate this season.
