Football Announces Staff Additions

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan head football coach Lance Taylor has announced more staff additions ahead of Monday's first spring practice.
 
The coaching staff is completed with the additions of Drew Moulton as the tight end coach, Darren Paige as the running backs coach and Brandon Lacy as the defensive ends coach. Jonathan Ceh has been announced as the new Director of Football Operations and Ryan Hansen as the new General Manager. The group joins previously announced offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Walt Bell and defensive coordinator/linebackers Scott Power.
 
"I am excited to announce the following additions to our coaching and support staff and welcome them to the Bronco Family," said Taylor. "My top priority as Head Coach is to bring quality leaders with great integrity that will serve and support our student athletes while working relentlessly towards our goals and standards of bringing a MAC Championship back to Kalamazoo. I am confident each will have an immediate impact and will allow us to continue elevating the Bronco Standard. They each provide a diverse wealth of knowledge and experience that will pay dividends in developing our current and future student-athletes on and off the field."
 
Moulton joins the staff after spending two seasons at Slippery Rock where he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He also had stops at Indiana in offensive quality control,  Minnesota as a graduate assistant, Eastern Michigan as an offensive and special teams quality control assistant and as a wide receivers coach at Southwest Minnesota State. While at SRU, his offenses ranked in the top 25 in total offense. This past season with The Rock, his offense ranked in the top 10 in the country, averaging 40.9 points per game and 466.4 yards per game. Moulton also has a Western Michigan connection, being the older brother of WMU football alum Alec Moulton. Alec was a wide receiver from 2012-2015 before graduating with a business degree.
 
Paige brings 14 years of coaching experience to the Broncos, with many stops in the Midwest. Most recently he was the running backs coach at Army. At Army, he coached Kanye Udoh who went on to be named the ECAC Freshman of the Year and the first freshman in program history to rush for 100 yards in back-to-back games. Prior to that he spent two seasons as the running backs coach at Cincinnati, two seasons at Eastern Michigan as a wide receivers coach, a year each at Stony Brook and Holy Cross. Paige also spent four seasons as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Midwestern State and a year as a graduate assistant at Kent State. While with the Bearcats, he coached fifth-round draft pick Jerome Ford. Cincinnati averaged 5.2 yards per carry, 18th-best in the nation. With the Bearcats he helped coach the team to an AAC Championship and a spot in the 2021 College Football Playoffs.
 
Lacy spent the past three seasons at Southern Miss, coaching the team's defensive line. During the 2022 season, Lacy's defensive line was responsible for 222 total tackles, 42 tackles for loss and 25.5 sacks. Lacy was also the defensive line coach at Richmond after a successful 10-year stint at Southeastern Louisiana. At SLU he produced an All-American, 14 All-Southland Conference players and his defensive lines routinely were among the top in the national rankings in sacks, tackles for loss, turnovers and scoring defense. Through his entire coaching career he has coached five NFL Draft picks, 10 All-American defensive linemen, 34 all-conference selections, three Defensive Player of the Year award winners and two Buck Buchanan Award finalists for the top defensive player in FCS.
 
Ceh joins the Broncos after spending one seasons at Old Dominion as the assistant director of operations. Prior to that he was a football operations graduate assistant at Arkansas and worked in the equipment office at Mississippi State. Ceh graduated from Penn State in 2020 and worked briefly at Boeing as a supply chain specialist before pursuing a career in football.
 
Hansen comes to Kalamazoo after spending four years at Indiana where he spent two seasons as the director of on-campus recruiting and the past two as the director of player personnel. Hansen also spent four seasons as the wide receivers/tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator at Upper Iowa University, six seasons at Murray State, and has also had coaching stops at Maryville College and Quincy University. Hansen received a master's degree in physical education and recreation from Murray State in 2001.
 
Taylor has also announced promotions for Jeff Popovich to assistant head coach/co-defensive coordinator/special teams coordinator and safeties coach; defensive line coach David Denham has also been named the recruiting coordinator and offensive line coach Trevor Mendelson has been named co-offensive coordinator.
