KALAMAZOO, Mich. – With the conclusion of the regular season, Western Michigan will now begin postseason play at St. Cloud State in the NCHC Quarterfinals.
The Broncos earned the No. 6 seed, while the Huskies claimed the No. 3 seed in the conference. The best-of-three series will begin on March 15 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Puck drop for Friday's series opener is set for 8:30 PM ET.
The Brown and Gold finished the regular season with a 20-13-1 overall record and 11-13 conference mark. The Broncos and Huskies squared off just a couple of weeks ago, with the two teams splitting the series. WMU defeated St. Cloud State, 4-3, in the opening game of the series.
The winner of the series will advance to the NCHC Frozen Faceoff, which is set for March 22-23 in St. Paul, Minn. The games will be played at Xcel Energy Center, home of the Minnesota Wild. Western Michigan's last appearance at the Frozen Faceoff was 2022.
Outside of WMU, No. 8 Miami will travel to No. 1 North Dakota, No. 7 Minnesota Duluth will head to No. 2 Denver and No. 5 Omaha will play at No. 4 Colorado College.
