ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Western Michigan track and field team had another strong day, headlined by
Bri'Yanna Robinson's school record in the shot put.
Robinson was the star of the meet for WMU, shattering the school record in the shot put with a throw of 16.03 meters. The next highest throw in program history is 15.39 meters.
In the 60-meter dash,
Sandra Ferrari was strong as she claimed the ninth best time in program history. She crossed the finish line with a time of 7.62.
Mimi Joseph ran as well, earning a time of 7.93.
Then, in the 200-meter dash,
Soniya Jones and
Mabinty Kebe were strong, earning times of 25.11 and 25.12, respectively.
Laurie-Ann Desormes also ran in the event, notching a time of 25.45.
LaJeanee' Porter and
Rebekah Asselin then took to the track for the 800-meter run. Porter finished with a time of 2:21.60, while Asselin collected a time of 2:23.69. Following that,
Brooke Soper,
Larissa McGrath and
Madison Zarembski competed in the 3,000-meter run. Soper paced the team with a time of 10:08.29. McGrath was next with a time of 10:25.32. Zarembski was able to get a time of 10:31.14.
In the long jump,
Anichka Malachi was strong, posting a mark of 5.56 meters.
Kennedy Hagens,
Lane Hagens and
Mariah Sackett all competed in the shot put, earning marks of 13.08 meters, 12.91 meters and 11.26 meters, respectively.
Finally, in the weight throw, Robinson notched a throw of 15.87 meters, while
Kennedy Hagens had a mark of 15.39 meters.
Lane Hagens then had a throw of 14.27 meters and Sackett had a mark of 12.96 meters.
