Colin Welsh Selected by St.Louis City SC in 2025 MLS SuperDraft

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Western Michigan University men's soccer senior goalkeeper Colin Welsh was selected by St.Louis City SC in the third round (67th overall) of the MLS SuperDraft Friday afternoon.

In 2024, Welsh started in all 20 of his appearances for WMU and recorded 11 wins (tied for the third most in single-season program history) behind four shutouts. Additionally in net, the senior tallied a goals-against average of 0.99 behind 78 saves. Welsh showcased his defensive dominance in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament first round versus Evansville University on November 10. In the match, Welsh recorded a season-high eight saves.

Throughout the campaign, Welsh was named the MVC Defensive Player of the Week twice, first on August 27, and later on September 24. Eventually, Welsh was crowned MVC Goalkeeper of the Year on November 12.

At the conclusion of the 2024 regular season, Welsh's save percentage of 0.796 led all keepers that tallied at least 1800 minutes in goal.

With Welsh's selection, the WMU men's soccer team improved their all-time MLS SuperDraft pick count to 10 total Broncos. Friday marked a program record third consecutive year that at least one Bronco was selected in the draft.
