KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball team and head coach
Colleen Munson have announced the signing of two student-athletes to the program's class of 2025. Outside hitter Mia Jurkovic (Owego, Ill.) and middle blocker Cassidy Pratley (East Leroy, Mich.) are both slated to suit up for the Brown and Gold beginning with the 2025 season.
"We're very excited to be welcoming Mia and Cassidy to the Bronco Volleyball family!" coach Munson said. "They have both proven themselves at the highest level of competition and are committed not only to their craft as volleyball players, but also to their effort in the classroom. We expect them to make an immediate and lasting impact on our program next fall."
Mia Jurkovic • 6-1 • Outside Hitter • Oswego, Ill. • Oswego HS
A native of Oswego, Ill., Jurkovic recently wrapped up her senior season for coach Gary Mosley at Oswego High School. This year, she helped the Panthers to a 32-5 overall record and a conference title after posting a perfect 11-0 mark in league play.
The 6-1 outside hitter has picked up numerous accolades throughout her career, including an All-Conference selection, Player of the Week award and All-Tournament Team honors at both the Blocktober Tournament and SETtember Fest. She plays her club ball for Sports Performance Volleyball Club.
Jurkovic boasts a strong academic record as well, having been on the Honor Roll and High Honor Roll throughout her high school career. She is also a member of the Juniorettes Club and intends to major in Biology or Biomedical Sciences at WMU. Her uncle, John Jurkovic, played college football at Eastern Illinois and went on to play nine seasons in the NFL as a defensive lineman for the Packers, Jaguars and Browns.
Cassidy Pratley • 6-1 • Middle Blocker • East Leroy, Mich. • Harper Creek HS
Pratley is a four-sport athlete from nearby East Leroy. Under head coach Terra King, Pratley and the Beavers went a perfect 9-0 in league action this fall to capture a conference championship, and added a district title last weekend.
Over the course of her high school career, Pratley has recorded more than 2,000 kills and 200 blocks. Named the Rookie of the Year after her freshman season, she went on to earn three All-Conference and All-City selections, as well as a pair of All-Region honors. She earned a spot on the All-State Team as a junior and was recently named a finalist for MIVCA Michigan Miss Volleyball and to the 2024 AVCA All-Region Team.
In addition to volleyball, Pratley is a part of Harper Creek's top doubles tennis pairing which won a city championship. She is also a post player on the basketball team and was a state qualifier in track as a high jumper and member of the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams.
Academically, Pratley has received highest honors all throughout high school and has been dual enrolled for three years. She is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council and the Prom Committee. She intends to major in Nursing at WMU.
