WMU Baseball Signs Four to 2025 Class

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan baseball team and head coach Billy Gernon have announced the signing of four student-athletes to the program's class of 2025. Left-handed pitchers Drew Everingham (Riverview, Mich.) and Trevor Marshall (Troy, Mich.), middle infielder Mason Pilarski (Macomb, Mich.) and right-handed pitcher Jake Ross (Tinley Park, Ill.) are set to arrive on campus in the fall of 2025 and will suit up for the Broncos beginning with the 2026 season.

Drew Everingham • LHP • 6-5 • 180 • Riverview, Mich. • Gabriel Richard HS
Everingham is set to be a three-year starter and four-year letterwinner for coach Greg Lenhoff at Gabriel Richard High School. As a freshman, he earned the save in the MHSAA Division 4 Championship Game. The southpaw was an All-League selection after both his sophomore and junior seasons, and was also an All-Region honoree last year. He plays his summer ball for coach Jay Alexander.

In addition to his exploits on the diamond, Everingham is a three-time letterwinner in basketball. A two-time All-League performer, he led the state of Michigan in three-point field goal percentage during his sophomore campaign.

The son of Brent and Jill, Everingham has a younger sister, Kayla, and a younger brother, Jack. His grandparents, Fred and Judy, are both Western Michigan graduates. Upon arriving at WMU, Everingham plans to enter the Haworth College of Business.

Coach Gernon on Everingham:
"Drew has tremendous upside with his long and wiry frame. He understands how to pitch and was impressive every time we saw him. Drew will be a fantastic addition to our locker room and culture and could impact our team very early in his collegiate career."

Trevor Marshall • LHP • 5-11 • 170 • Troy, Mich. • Troy HS
Marshall heads into his senior campaign this spring as a three-year returning starter and letterwinner for coach Joe D'Orazio at Troy High School. In 2024, he posted the second-lowest ERA in school history to help the Colts to a 30-9 record and an OAA conference championship. The lefty plays his summer ball for coach Greg Fettes and SOA.

In the classroom, he carries a 3.6 GPA, has been on the Honor Roll all three years, is a member of the National Honor Society and has earned an Academic All-District selection.

The son of Duane and Kristina, Marshall plans to pursue a degree in Sports Marketing and a career in sports photography.

Coach Gernon on Marshall:
"There is always a need for strike throwers and Trevor epitomizes that concept. He fills up the zone with a three-pitch mix while racking up strikeouts along the way. Trevor has very repeatable mechanics, which puts his pitches in and around the strike zone on a highly frequent basis and enabled him to have the second-lowest ERA in school history."

Mason Pilarski • MIF • 6-1 • 180 • Macomb, Mich. • De La Salle Collegiate HS
Pilarski is set to be a three-year starter and letterwinner for head coach Dan Cimini at De La Salle Collegiate High School. He had a breakout 2024 campaign for the Pilots, earning All-Catholic League and First Team All-District selections. He was also a team captain and earned the team's Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year awards. He plays his summer ball for coach Jim Kraut and the Michigan War Dogs.

The 70th-ranked prospect and 12th-ranked shortstop in the state in his class, Pilarski has shined off of the diamond as well. He owns a 3.7 GPA, is an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society.

The son of a pair of Western Michigan alums, Greg and Kortnie, Pilarski has a younger brother, Cole, and a younger sister, Aubree. Upon arriving at WMU, he plans to enter the Haworth College of Business.

Coach Gernon on Pilarski:
"Mason is a very mature competitor and never seems to let himself get too high or too low. He consistently makes the routine play, which is validated by being named Defensive Player of the Year. Mason has demonstrated very unique leadership qualities during the recruiting process and will undoubtedly enhance our locker room and overall culture. I expect him to have a major impact on the team and locker room the moment he arrives in Kalamazoo."

Jake Ross • RHP • 6-6 • 225 • Tinley Park, Ill. • Victor J. Andrew HS
Ross is set to be a three-year letterwinner for coach David DeHann at Victor J. Andrew High School. The right-hander has helped the Thunderbolts to a lot of success during his first three seasons, including a 2023 Regional Championship and 2024 Regional Runner-Up finish. He plays summer ball for the Hitters, coached by Mark Doran, and was a part of the White Sox RBI team which won the 2022 RBI World Series Championship in Vero Beach, Fla.

In addition to baseball, Ross has also lettered in golf. The son of Rich and Nichole, he plans to attend the Haworth College of Business.

Coach Gernon on Ross:
"Jake is blessed with tremendous size and upside. He pounds the strike zone and has tremendous feel on the mound. We are most certainly looking forward to Jake getting on campus and utilizing our resources, as the sky is the limit for his continued development."
