Women's Soccer Returns Home to Play Bowling Green

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- After playing two straight road games, the Western Michigan women's soccer team is back at home on Thursday afternoon to square off with Bowling Green. The two teams are set to battle at 4 PM at the WMU Soccer Complex. 

LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan notched its sixth overall win of the season and third in Mid-American Conference play by taking care of Kent State on Oct. 5. The Broncos secured a 3-1 victory. 

In the game, Sammi Glover scored her first career goal, while Jen Blitchok and Abby Werthman were also able to find the back of the net. Blitchok now has 11 goals on the season. Glover went on to be named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week. 

LEAGUE LEADERS
Jen Blitchok and Abby Werthman have been leading the way for WMU this season, topping the MAC in a variety of categories. 

Entering Thursday's match, Blitchok is the league's leader in points (24) and goals (11), while Werthman leads the league in assists (7). Werthman is third in the league in points (17). 

Blitchok and Werthman were both First Team All-MAC selections a year ago and have WMU on a 17-game MAC regular season unbeaten streak. 

CLOSING IN ON 100
WMU head coach Lewis Robinson is nearing his 100th career win in the college ranks. He sits at 99 entering Saturday's match. 

He tallied 76 wins at Aquinas before taking over at WMU. With the Broncos, he has 23 victories, including 16 in MAC play. 

SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Bowling Green is 3-1-1 over its last five games and in a tie for second place in the MAC standings entering Thursday's match. 

Western Michigan leads the all-time series 17-11-3 and is 11-6-1 in Kalamazoo. The series has been pretty even over the last 10 meetings with the record being 4-4-2. 

Leading the way for Bowling Green has been Lexi Czerwien, who has a team high nine points and four goals. Aiding the attack has been Emma Stranksy, who has chipped in three goals and one assist. 

In net, Madison Vukas has started the majority of the games for BGSU, boasting a 5-3-1 record, 0.89 goals against average and .805 save percentage. She has four shutouts in nine games this season.
