PORTAGE, Mich. – Five Western Michigan golfers sit in the top 20 after the first two rounds of the WMU Bronco Fall Classic, hosted by the Broncos at The Moors Golf Club, on Monday.
Junior
Megha Vallabhaneni paced the Broncos after shooting a pair of 76's and sits tied for third place at 152 (+8). Freshman
Saanvi Venkatesh is just three strokes behind her is in a five-way tie for 10th place. Sophomore Isabella Brooks is a stroke behind Ventakesh and is tied for 15th.
Freshman
Lauren Lupinek shot a 158 after opening with a 77 and then following it up with an 81, currently tying for 18th. Junior
Jenna Hayes is in a five-way tie for 20th after shooting a 159.
As a team, Western Michigan is in third place at 618. WMU combined for a 308 in the first round and followed it up with a 310. Cal State Northridge is in first place with a 611, while Ohio shot a 614 to sit in third. WMU has a 14-stroke cushion from fourth-place Central Michigan in the nine-team field
CSU Northridge's Gracie Piar leads the field after opening with a 72, and following it up with a 73 for a 145 (+1). Anna Heck from Notre Dame is in second place after shooting a 147 (+3).
The final round begins on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.
