Women's Soccer Welcomes Ball State to Town for Senior Day

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team will host Ball State on Sunday afternoon at the WMU Soccer Complex. The Broncos and Cardinals will hit the field at 1 PM. 

LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan earned a 2-0 victory over Toledo on Thursday night to remain unbeaten in MAC play and atop the conference standings. 

Jenna Blackburn and Maya Dean tallied the goals for the Brown and Gold, while Jen Blitchok was able to add an assist. Lauren Boafo collected her seventh clean sheet of the season in the win.  

SAVVY SENIORS
The Broncos will be celebrating senior day on Sunday afternoon at the WMU Soccer Complex. The team will honor 14 players in a pre-game ceremony. 

Those players include: Katie Goss, Lauren Boafo, Emily Pagett, Jenna Blackburn, Brooke Bailey, Maya Dean, Abby Werthman, Jen Blitchok, Kindall Duke, Madison Salzenstein, Shakira O'Malley, Brielle Gomez, Jaden Peck and Callie Cunningham

That group is responsible for Western Michigan's most decorated season in program history. The Broncos won the MAC regular season title for the first time in program history last season. The team went undefeated in MAC play. 

The squad is undefeated in MAC play again this year and is one win away from clinching another MAC title. 

21 AND COUNTING
Western Michigan has been dominant in the MAC over the last couple of years. The Broncos are unbeaten in their last 21 conference regular season games. 

During that stretch, WMU's record is 15-0-6. In that run came the Broncos' first MAC regular season championship in program history. 

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Ball State enters Sunday's game on a three-game losing streak. The Cardinals have been outscored 8-4 in that stretch. 

WMU leads the all-time series 14-12-5 and has been great against BSU at home. In Kalamazoo, WMU boasts a 9-4-2 record. Additionally, Western Michigan hasn't lost to Ball State since 2019. 

Despite the struggles, Ball State has a pair of prolific offensive players in Addie Chester and Delaney Caldwell. Chester leads the team with 22 points on seven goals and eight assists, while Caldwell has chipped in 19 points on seven goals and five assists. Chester leads the MAC in assists this season. 

In net, Grace Konopatzki has started 15 games for the Cardinals. She boasts a 4-6-2 record, 1.33 goals against average and .714 save percentage. She has 35 saves and 1 shutout this season.
