Men’s Soccer Re-Enters Inside The United Soccer Coaches Top 10

UNITED STATES -- The United Soccer Coaches released its latest rankings on Tuesday afternoon. In the ninth poll of the year, the Western Western Michigan University men's soccer team climbed back inside the top 10, landing at #9 Tuesday.

This past week, the men's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory over Green Bay on Tuesday, October 15, at WMU Soccer Complex and extended their record-breaking unbeaten streak to a 35th consecutive game without suffering a defeat. The win would mark WMU's fourth shutout of the season.

In the final third, graduate student midfielder Owen Smith and junior defender Emiel Nieuwhof scored for WMU.  In the first third of the field, WMU continued their defensive success and completed a 25th consecutive game in which they limited opponents to one goal or fewer.

At 7:00 PM tonight, the Brown and Gold will square off on the road against in-state rival Detroit Mercy on ESPN+. WMU enters the match with a 16-game winning streak over in-state opponents and has not lost to an in-state foe since September 7, 2018. The feat marks the longest win streak against Michigan colleges in NCAA men's soccer history.
